| So, I was having a very serious discussion with my friend's four-year-old son about movies. He was very busy comparing the virtues and vices of Cars and Wall-E. It appears that his beloved Wall-E has lost out to Cars by a small margin, due largely in part to Mater, the tow truck. Now, I don't know if ya'all have seen Cars, but it is on continuous loop at my friend's house, so I am quoting the movie in my sleep, and as cute as it can be, I'm starting to get annoyed. My chief complaint? Mater. Mater is voiced by Larry the Cable Guy, who doesn't much bother me the first 5 times through, but somewhere around number 15 hos voice really starts to rub me the wrong way. Like a cheese grater on a sunburn. Yes folks, Larry the Cable Guy makes me cringe. I made a huge tactical error and admitted, out loud, my growing annoyance with the dulcet tones of Larry and was rewarded with a look of indignation from that 4 year-old that rivaled anything an adult could ever dream of pulling of. I swear I thought he would grasp his chest and wail "Well, I NEVER!" before flouncing off, but no, he settled with informing me that "Not loving Mater is un-American" and that I would probably end up going *You Know Where*" ...????!!! Over the years I've been told I'm going to Hell, came from Hell, associate with heathens, am Godless, and a number of other damnation related phrases which I can't necessarily refute, but from a toddler?! What the ? umm.. Hell? I couldn't resist, I leaned down and said "No, T, where?" He rewarded me with the best "are you fucking stupid?" look that I've ever received and replied... "Your ROOM Shlee!" I love that boy. Even if he can't say Ashley. | |||||
