part time lover (POEM) submitted 2009.08.16 04:33 AM by ButterflyGrrl viewed 460 times

it's a poem... i've had writer's block for a while, but a friend of mine is leaving soon and this has made me reflective in a poetic manner. I decided to do audio because well... I never have before, and why not try this out on my favorite peeps? ^_^

part time lover

you created chaos quickly in the clear dawning of my spring,
sensual precision with the presents you would bring,
holding sweetly to my hand as a gateway to my heart,
you saw a happy ending where i never saw a start.

warmer grew the winds that pushed me further on ahead,
making me believe in things you never really said.
your lips would part but not speak, just to brush against my own,
and then i heard three whispered sounds repeat what i had known.

a dream, intoxication, or perhaps just wishful thoughts,
the summer came and melted all my hard and bitter parts.
deep drowning in desire for you, yet now's the time you leave,
but i can't offer you my love, can't say you are who i need?

but winter's 'round the corner and i know how cold it grows,
and how passionless the frost is as it tickles at my toes,
so alone now, i want to hold you close for warmth inside and out,
but i couldn't say "i love you" back with my soul still filled with doubt.
