Impression of a Girl submitted 2008.11.27 03:04 AM by antius777 viewed 379 times

Inspired by the UK artist Byroglyphics, I tried out a few new techniques.

This piece is quite large, over 3 & 1/2 feet in width. The canvas was primed with a tan interior house paint and the tones created with two types of wood stain. I then drew the image on quickly with a sharpie marker, then layered over that with flesh toned acrylic. (My flash washed out most of that.) After splattering white paint, black india ink and red printer's ink on the piece, I went back in with black enamel. Finally, I used a black paint pen to finish out the detail.

It came out a lil' wonky, but it was an experiment to see how the layers would react. Next time, I don't think I'll work so big, either. Oh well...
