| Life? Death? ...a debate submitted 2009.05.15 10:28 AM by OathMeal viewed 387 times | |||||
| Position 1: If we have a right to live, do we not also have the right to die? If our lives are truly our own, and we are inherently free to make whatever out of them that we please, then why is there such aversion and alarm when someone makes a conscious, clear decision to end their own life? It is their life, and their choice. Suicide should not be illegal and in fact it should be accepted as an option for anyone who does not wish to remain alive for whatever reason. _____________________________ ____________________ Position 2: All human death regardless of it's cause is something to be avoided and fought against. In the case of suicide, the person taking his/her life is never thinking logically or clearly and they simply need guidance and medical attention to be put back on the right track - one of a contributing and meaningful existence on earth. Willed self-death is not natural and in fact it is a direct result of the disease of depression, which can be remedied with the correct resources. Suicide should absolutely remain illegal and shunned entirely as an 'option' for anyone. Discuss. | |||||
